VOLUNTEER REGISTERED DIETITIAN, NUTRITIONIST/DIABETIC EDUCATOR JOB DESCRIPTION
OUR MISSION:
The Wausau Free Clinic (WFC), sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church, is committed to offering no-charge, quality primary care services to low income, uninsured individuals of Central Wisconsin, utilizing highly qualified volunteers.
POSITION TITLE:
Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist/Diabetic Educator
REPORTS TO:
Volunteer Medical Director
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Dietitian, Nutritionist/Diabetic Educator provides medical nutrition therapy (MNT) and/or diabetes self-management training (DSMT) services to patients and/or families including assessment of nutritional status, nutrition care planning, counseling and evaluation. Interacts with other health care team members for planning and delivering appropriate patient care.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing quality MNT and DSMT based on patient expectations and needs.
- Effectively communicating with clinic team and patients.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary clinic team members.
- Monitoring health outcomes of patients.
- Assisting with diabetes medication adjustments with clinic provider oversight.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of nutrition standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree in Food & Nutrition or Dietetics and maintaining Registered Dietitian/Certified Dietitian credentials.
- Completes and maintains requirements required by the Certification Board for Diabetes and Care Education Specialists.
- Maintains CPR certification.
- Attends required in-services, trainings, and completes other competencies as directed by the Wausau Free Clinic.

- Attention to detail, accurate documentation, and good decision-making skills.
