Volunteer Opportunities at the Wausau Free Clinic

The Wausau Free Clinic depends on the generosity and expertise of volunteers who are passionate about improving the health and well-being of our neighbors in need. By offering your time and skills, you help ensure that uninsured and low-income individuals in our community continue to receive compassionate, no-cost medical care. Whether you have clinical experience or prefer to support behind the scenes, your contribution makes a meaningful difference.

The following is a list of our current needed positions:

Spanish Interpreter

Interpreter is responsible for listening to, understanding, and translating spoken or written statements from English to their spoken language to patients and their families as they navigate through their health care visit.

Community Service Navigator

The Community Service Navigator assists patients in completing and obtaining financial information and/or accessing community services.

Medical Lab Technician

The Volunteer Med Tech perform laboratory duties under the WFC Medical Director with oversight from the Clinic Coordinator to support patient care and clinic operations.

Dietitian / Nutritionist

Provides medical nutrition therapy ( MNT ) and slash or diabetes self-management training services to patients and slash or families including assessment of nutritional status, nutrition care planning, counseling and evaluation.

Medication Volunteer

A medication volunteer is responsible for all elements of prescription slash order processing. Performs accurate and timely preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products and associated functions, as or under the supervision of an appropriately licensed staff member.
